PYROTECHNIC SAFETY NOTES
Pyrotechnics can be dangerous in inexperienced hands. It is therefore critical that attention is paid to the following safety advice:
- Pyrotechnics ARE explosives
- DO follow ignition instructions
- DO wear protective gloves
- DO wear eye protection
- DO ignite only one grenade at a time
- DO throw or roll in a safe direction
- DO retreat at least 5 metres
- Pyrotechnics ARE NOT toys
- CAN NOT be purchased by under 16 years (18 in Great Britain)
- DO NOT store pyrotechnics in pockets
- DO NOT carry grenades by the ring pull
- DO NOT cover gas vent with bare skin
- DO NOT throw into confined space
- DO NOT reuse unexploded grenades
- DO NOT smoke while near or using pyrotechnics
There are also some other factors you may wish to consider:
- Will my smoke obstruct the vision of vehicles or traffic?
- Is the space too enclosed or will my smoke cause irritation to peoples breathing?
- Is the grenade too loud for the environment I am planning to use it in?
- Will my pyrotechnic cause injury to other people?
- Will my pyrotechnic disturb or cause damage to animals?
- Will my pyrotechnic cause the accidental ignition of any other objects?
